Industrial Heavy Duty Rubber Hoses

Hoses mean any device used to transfer material either solid, liquid or gas from one point to area of actual service. There are various polymers which are used to manufactured hoses like Rubber, PVC, HPDE, LDPE but for industrial applications Rubber is use to manufacture Hoses.

Have you ever thought, what life would be without modern day amenities? Take example of a simple product like Hose Pipe (which I would like to discuss today). Hoses are used in almost everywhere around us.

  • Home              –gardening, horticulture, domestic gas pipeline, watering plants & trees, washing floors, washing machine, wash basins.
  • Construction   –curing, electrical fittings, concrete hose, dewatering, suction-discharge of excess water.
  • Industry           –Acid-alkali Transfer, Water-Air-pneumatic Purposes, Rock drilling purposes, Hydraulic Purposes, Petroleum-Solvents Transfer, Food or edible oil, furnace coolant purposes, Vacuum, sand blasting, Automobiles.
  • Public Utilities –Dams, Hospitals, Canals, Power houses, Fire fighting, water cannons

This mean such a small thing like Hose is found everywhere around us in close vicinities, have you ever noticed it before? The answer is NO. The purpose of using a Hose is transferring a material either solid, liquid or gas from one place to the place of service. There are various polymers which are used to manufactured hoses like Rubber, PVC, HPDE, LDPE but for industrial applications Rubber is use to manufacture Hoses.
Multi-Purpose Hose Pipes
Rubber Hoses as the name suggests are made of Rubber Compound which may be Natural Rubber (derived of Rubber Tress, grown in tropical regions most in Kerala, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Srilanka, India) or synthetic (manufactured by processing of crude oil & chemicals basically a petroleum based product). Rubber is vulcanizes then extruded in hose shape, suitable reinforcements being added to sustain pressure. Like,
  1. Air-Water hose generally carry a Nylon thread braided ply for strength.
  2. Hydraulic hose have high tensile steel wire
  3. Suction Hose are manufactured using a special type of steel rod placed helically around hose, so that it should not kink under suction pressure.

Construction of Rubber hoses:-
  1. Tube- this is the inner surface which  comes directly in contact of substance flowing inside hose. This is in a form of a hollow round chamber.
  2. Reinforcement- various layers of cotton, nylon, steel or other material is embedded to bear pressure of transferring substance.
  3. Cover- the other surface, which comes in contact with the atmosphere, this is meant to protect tube & reinforcement from damage & works as a safety guard.

Various types of Hoses are manufactured, they differ on the basis of their applications, some of them are-
  • Water/Air Hose  - For carrying water or air from one place to actual area of service.
  • Hydraulic Hose  - mainly used in hydraulic cranes, machines, where they transfer hydraulic oil to different machine parts.
  • Suction Discharge Hose- used for Suction of a material from a lower level & throw it to upper level, the material can be anything Water, Acid, Mud, Fly-ash, cement.
  • Sand Blasting Hose  – these are heavy duty hose for sandblasting purpose with nylon fabric woven multiple ply or layers as reinforcements.
  • Carbon free hose      – these are again specially built hose for furnace coolant purposes, the manufactured with out the use of Caron or other conductive agents with the view to keep it electrically non-conductive.
  • Brewery And Edible Oil Food Grade Hose – as the name suggest food grade hoses are manufactured using food grade chemicals.

Santosh Rubber are specialized in manufacturing Industrial & other High & Low pressure hoses. The hose manufactured by them are durable, reliable, competitive in terms of price & premium quality. They mostly manufacture Rubber hoses using both natural & synthetic Rubber.  Natural Rubber used is mostly RSS (Ribbed smoke sheets) gade-4 & synthetic rubber included Neoprene (Chloroprene), Silicone, EPDM, Viton, Nitrile.

Speciality of each type of Rubber is mentioned below-
  1. Neoprene – it is resistant to Oil, Heat & abrasion.
  2. Silicone – Resistant to high temperature up to 250 degree Celsius.
  3. EPDM – Whether 7 climate resistant abilities.
  4. Viton – Very high heat resistant.
  5. Nitrile – electrical resistant.
  6. Natural – abrasion resistant.

Rubber Hoses are available in mostly in 15meters length but could be supplied in long lengths, as per the requirement of the purchaser. The natural colour of rubber hoses is black, although could be manufactured in a variety of colours like red, blue, green, white. For eg- welding hose comes in blue & red colour, blue for oxygen & red for fuel gas, these colour coding helps in distinguishing different type of hoses. Like-wise, Carbon Free hose mostly have white colour in inner & green or blue on outer side.
